The family of Junior Pope announces the official funeral plans.

The late Johnpaul Obumneme Odonwodo, better known by his stage as Junior Pope, was a Nollywood actor. His family recently published an updated poster with the burial arrangements.

According to the widely shared burial plans on the internet, Junior Pope—who perished in a boat accident—will be buried in his birthplace of Enugu on May 17, 2024.

This comes after the word “husband” was left off of the homage part of the former burial poster, which caused outcry.

The family appears to have given in to pressure in the end by recognizing the deceased spouse’s position.

The original disparity has been addressed with a redesigned burial poster that features honors acknowledging Junior Pope as a son, brother, spouse, father, and grandchild.

The 43-year-old’s family explained that the viral poster was taken down without permission and that tributes now recognize Junior Pope as a son, brother, husband, father, and grandchild in the revised version.

The updated funeral certificate says, “In loving memory of our beloved brother, We announce the untimely loss of our beloved brother, John Paul Obumneme Odowondo (Junior Pope), with deep grief and sadness. We publish his obituary poster with heavy hearts. We have approved and issued this poster as a family in remembrance of him.

Though words cannot explain how we feel, we find comfort in the memories we have of him. Every time spent in his company was treasured, from his infectious laugh to his kind heart.

“We cordially invite all friends, well-wishers, and loved ones to join us as we send a sorrowful farewell. The family has picked the date for his last resting place. The funeral service will be held in Ukehe, the man’s hometown in Enugu State, on May 17, 2024.
