Exponent Energy of India offers passenger three-wheelers a 15-minute charge time.

A revolutionary development in the field of transportation is set to occur in India with the introduction of an electric three-wheeler passenger car that can be fully charged in 15 minutes. The Stream City Qik is an innovative electric vehicle that is the product of a partnership between innovative battery company Exponent Energy and well-known automaker Omega Seiki Mobility. This breakthrough is consistent with India’s ambitious plan to reduce emissions by 80% by electrifying 80% of its three-wheelers by 2030.

The Stream City Qik, which costs $3,900 (324,999 Indian rupees), made its official debut on Friday and will go on sale in Bengaluru and Delhi on May 15. Using an 8.8kWh unique battery pack, this new model builds on the popularity of its predecessor, the Omega Stream City, and has an amazing range of nearly 86 miles (126 kilometers). Exponent Energy’s innovative charging technology is what distinguishes it; when connected to the startup’s e^pumps, or charging stations, the battery may be fully charged in as little as 15 minutes.

Exponent Energy has already set over 60 charging stations in six of India’s largest cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Delhi-NCR. The business intends to grow even more, with plans to serve Stream City Qik drivers exclusively by having 100 charging stations in Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR by 2024 and 1,000 stations nationwide by 2025.

With this alliance, Exponent Energy, which was previously concentrated on offering quick charging options for fleet and freight operations, is expanding significantly. Seeing the enormous potential in the passenger three-wheeler market in India, the business has refocused to address the increasing need for infrastructure that supports quick charging. Government statistics show that the passenger three-wheeler market expanded by an astounding 43% in January alone, with over 45,000 vehicles sold.

Building on the former’s successful relationships in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, Exponent Energy and Omega Seiki Mobility have established a strategic alliance. Arun Vinayak, the CEO of Exponent Energy, highlighted the significance of quick charging for individual drivers, especially in the gig economy where cars run nonstop to satisfy the demands of delivery and ride-hailing services. Vinayak has a vision to completely transform the transportation industry.

Lithium-ion batteries and a sophisticated battery management system are features of Exponent Energy’s battery technology, which guarantees maximum performance and longevity. Additionally, the off-board thermal management mechanism used by their charging stations allows for quick charging without sacrificing battery life. Vinayak emphasized the effectiveness of Exponent Energy’s charging stations, which are significantly more efficient than conventional EV charging infrastructure and can charge up to 30 cars every day.

With the launch of the Stream City Qik in Bengaluru and Delhi, Omega Seiki Mobility and Exponent Energy are confident about what lies ahead. This partnership is a major step forward in India’s shift to sustainable transportation, with aspirations to grow into other cities and worldwide markets. The founder and chairman of Omega Seiki Mobility, Uday Narang, expressed faith in the Stream City Qik’s ability to transform transportation outside of India, with an eye toward worldwide development.

Exponent Energy and Omega Seiki Mobility are well-positioned to spearhead the push for innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector as the demand for electric vehicles rises. By committing to quality and affordability together, they hope to empower drivers and open the door to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
